Meet Superintendent Richard Woods: A Lifetime Dedicated to Georgia Education

Richard Woods, a lifelong Georgian, has dedicated over three decades of his life to education in our state. Born and raised in rural Georgia, Superintendent Woods understands the unique challenges and opportunities that our public education system faces. After earning his degree in education from Valdosta State University, he began his career as a teacher and coach, eventually rising through the ranks to become a principal and superintendent.

Before his election as Georgia's State School Superintendent in 2014, Woods served as the superintendent of the Coffee County School District for 12 years. His extensive experience in education, coupled with his deep understanding of Georgia's diverse communities, makes him an invaluable leader in our state's education system.
